Planet Fitness Donates All Equipment For New Gym Inside The Ronald Mcdonald House Of Long Island
Company has joined the collaborative efforts of Project Design to support families of children receiving care at local hospitals
LONG ISLAND, NY (October 9, 2014) – Planet Fitness, the innovative health club franchise known for its Judgement Free Zone® and affordable prices, today announced that the company will fully equip the brand new gym inside the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island as part of its grand re-design. The Ronald McDonald House of Long Island serves as a home-away-from-home for families of seriously ill children in the area.
Planet Fitness has provided state of the art cardio and strength equipment to outfit the brand new fitness center as part of Phase II of Project Design, a renovation initiative that has brought together more than 45 of America’s leading interior designers. This project is the largest redesign the house has seen its 28-year history. Families staying at the house, which provides a calm and restful healing environment for those experiencing the pain of having a child in nearby hospitals, have requested a relaxing and convenient place to work out and relieve stress. This new fitness center will provide families the opportunity to experience the benefits of exercise within the comfort of their temporary home.
“Planet Fitness is committed to supporting organizations in the communities we service,” said Chris Rondeau, Planet Fitness Chief Executive Officer. “We are honored to take part in this renovation, and offer families the convenience of being able to work out and relieve stress at home, while caring for their children at area hospitals.”
Last summer, the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island launched Phase I of the process to transform the first portion of the house, and to date, the initiative’s collaborative efforts have helped to renovate 24 bedrooms, four kitchens, five common areas, laundry rooms, and to create a meditation room as well as the new fully equipped fitness center.
“As we near the completion of this remarkable renovation, we want to express our gratitude for the generous support of Planet Fitness” said Matthew Campo, Executive Director of the Ronald McDonald House of Long Island. “With their help and the added accommodations, these families are given the ability to fully focus on their child’s healing.”
