Planet Fitness Partners with SeekHer Foundation to Advance Women’s Wellness
Planet Fitness is committed to increasing access to health and wellness and inviting everyone to experience the physical and mental benefits, such as energy, mood, and confidence boosts, that movement in a Judgement Free Zone® provides.
However, many women still face barriers to fitness, including societal expectations, intimidation, and body shame, which negatively impact women’s self-esteem and self-care. While research shows 62% of women say movement is the most helpful way to take a moment for themselves, 62% of women also say they rarely make time for self-care, and 55% feel they are being judged at the gym for not looking fit enough.
To continue breaking down exercise barriers and creating accessible and inclusive fitness environments, Planet Fitness is honoring Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day as moments to empower women and advance their mental and physical wellness.
Here’s what we’re doing:
- Planet Fitness is partnering with SeekHer Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to bridging the gender gap of mental health through advocacy, research, and support for women. As part of this, SeekHer Foundation offers a free online community called SeekHer Circle, which provides workshops, self-care resources, mentorship, and opportunities to connect and reflect with other women.
- In support of SeekHer Foundation’s efforts, Planet Fitness is providing a minimum donation of $25,000. This includes a corporate contribution, along with funds raised through the option to donate to SeekHer Foundation as part of the new member online join process during the month of March.
- As part of this collaboration, Planet Fitness is sponsoring the “#BeyondTheBody: Cultivating Wellness Within Reach” SeekHer Foundation virtual workshop, which will take a judgement free approach to health, wellness, and self-care, on March 21 at 3 p.m. ET, as well as a weekly “#MyBodyCan” virtual challenge throughout March that encourages women to prioritize self-care and body positivity. Participants who answer the online prompts will be entered to win exciting Planet Fitness prizes, including Black Card memberships. Sign up for SeekHer Circle, the non-profit’s free online community, to get involved and receive self-care resources.
- Planet Fitness is also donating all sale profits* of “Thee Hottie Drop,” our new, limited-edition Planet Fitness x Megan Thee Stallion merchandise released in honor of Women’s History Month, to Pete & Thomas Foundation and SeekHer Foundation.
Women’s History Month is just one moment in time where we aim to use our size and scale to champion and advance inclusive fitness and wellness for women. These efforts are part of our ongoing commitment to uplift underrepresented communities and increase access, equity, and inclusion in fitness to create spaces where everyone feels like they belong.
