Together we are experiencing unprecedented times, and the COVID-19 situation is changing rapidly every day. As we navigate these uncharted waters as a global community, the health of our team members, members, and neighbors is our #1 priority. On behalf of everyone at Planet Fitness, I want you to know that first and foremost, we are thinking of you and your families’ well-being. Taking care of yourselves, and each other, is what is most important right now.

Out of an abundance of caution, all of our clubs have closed until further notice. As your long-term partner in fitness, we have proactively frozen all memberships on your behalf, and you will not be charged any fees during this time. We will keep you informed and let you know when your club is ready to reopen, and look forward to serving you in a clean, sanitary, and judgement free environment.

We want to do everything we can to help keep you moving so we’re bringing the best of the Judgement Free Zone® you.

  • Tune into Facebook Live for daily workouts featuring our awesome Planet Fitness trainers and special guests.
  • For anyone who can’t participate live, each workout will also be available to view on both the Planet Fitness Facebook page and YouTube channel after the broadcast is over.

COVID-19 Frequently Asked Questions

Club Closures & Reopening Plans

Working closely with our franchisees, we are taking a thoughtful, and phased approach to reopening clubs based on local officials’ guidelines.

The safety of our staff, members, and community is our top priority as we reopen. When a club’s reopening date has been set, you’ll be the first to know! Members will receive an email with the reopening date and additional details about what to expect when you return for your first workout. You can also check your local club page on PlanetFitness.com.au/gyms or your club’s Facebook page for updates.

We are proud of our high cleanliness standards and have extensive, cleaning and sanitization policies in place. Staff conduct regular and thorough cleaning of all equipment and surfaces throughout the gym floor. Regular, overnight deep cleaning is also conducted.

In preparation for reopening our clubs, we've taken several steps to strengthen our policies and procedures to help keep you and our team members safe! To name a few:

  • Increased sanitization stations throughout the gym floor: Our team members will be performing increased, thorough cleanings throughout all areas of the club using disinfectant effective against COVID-19.
  • Physical distancing measures: To allow for physical distancing, some pieces of cardio equipment will be temporarily marked out of use to create additional space.

You’ll also notice new signage throughout the club that helps to explain the steps we’re taking to keep our clubs clean, and our members and staff healthy. Finally, Planet Fitness and our franchisees will continue to follow local officials’ guidelines and adhere to any additional safety measures.

We are asking that all of our members Be Cleansiderate™ at our clubs and disinfect equipment before and after use. Additionally, you should plan to keep a safe distance by putting an imaginary treadmill or two between yourself and others.

You are welcome to wear any personal protective equipment (PPE) such as a mask or gloves to the club if you feel more comfortable. Together with our franchisees, we will continue to follow the recommendations of local authorities at each of our clubs in order to take every necessary precaution to ensure the safety of our community.

The Judgement Free Zone® @ Home

Yes, we have your backs! Our mission is to keep you moving which is why we launched our United We Move™ Campaign. While our clubs are temporarily closed, we’re bringing the best of our Judgement Free Zone® to you.

Check out the Planet Fitness Facebook Page for "Home Work-Ins" - a series of free fitness workouts for everyone – streamed live daily, hosted by our trainers and surprise celebrity guests. For anyone who can’t participate live, each workout will also be available to view on both the Planet Fitness Facebook page and YouTube channel after the broadcast is over. There is no equipment needed and all classes will be 20 minutes or less. 

Membership Questions

Yes, we have proactively frozen all memberships on your behalf, and you will not be charged any fees while your club is closed. We will keep you informed and let you know when your club is ready to reopen, and look forward to serving you in a clean, sanitary, and judgement free environment. Unfortunately the timing of mandates and closures lead to some of our members being billed shortly before we closed. Rest assured that you will not be charged for any days when the club was closed. We will make an adjustment on your next billing cycle when we reopen.

If you have a prepaid membership, the expiration date of your membership will be adjusted by the number of closed days. For example, if we are closed 30 days and your membership was set to end on or about November 30, that membership will be extended to on or about December 30.
