Planet Fitness to Bring On a “Judgement Free” 2018 as Presenting Sponsor of Times Square’s New Year’s Eve Celebration

HAMPTON, N.H. (Dec. 13, 2017) – Planet Fitness, Inc., one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers in the U.S., announced today that it will once again play host to the biggest party on the planet. In partnership with Times Square Alliance and Countdown Entertainment, the Judgement Free Zone® is bringing on 2018 as the presenting sponsor of Times Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration for the third consecutive year, inviting people worldwide to be “Judgement Free” in the New Year and beyond.

Approximately one million revelers in Times Square will ring in a “Judgement Free” New Year with bejeweled and festive New Year’s Eve party hats and balloons decked out in purple and yellow – the brand’s signature colors. Planet Fitness will be featured on “Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018" on Sunday, December 31 beginning at 8:00 p.m. EST on the ABC Television Network – with a presence in New York, New Orleans, and Los Angeles – as well as on the Times Square 2018 webcast throughout the night.

“There’s no better place to be on New Year’s Eve than right in the heart of Times Square at the crossroads of the world, inspiring people around the globe to be kind to themselves and one another,” said Chris Rondeau, Planet Fitness Chief Executive Officer. “With more than 1,400 clubs throughout the U.S. and Canada and memberships starting at just $10 a month, we encourage everyone to make their health and happiness a priority in the New Year, regardless of their fitness level and without fear of facing judgement.”

Also for a third year, Planet Fitness invites revelers young and young-at-heart to submit their Confetti Wishes, a heartfelt “wish” for the New Year, at planetfitness.com/confettiwishes or at the Wishing Wall in the heart of Times Square now through Wednesday, Dec. 27. Each wish will be printed on a piece of actual confetti that will soar over Times Square at midnight on New Year’s Eve.

“We are thrilled that our long-standing partner Planet Fitness is back to spread their message of positivity throughout the city and around the world as presenting sponsor of Times Square’s New Year’s Eve celebration. Witnessing that unifying sea of purple and yellow throughout Times Square has been a sight to behold for the past two years, and we can’t wait to do it again as we ring in 2018,” said Tim Tompkins, President of the Times Square Alliance.

“We’re so excited to once again welcome back Planet Fitness as an official sponsor and broadcast partner for Dick Clark’s New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018 – owning the health and fitness category for this incredible show,” said Ariel Elazar, Executive Vice President of Brand, Marketing & Digital Strategy for Dick Clark Productions. “Through their exciting and robust platform, Planet Fitness will surely inspire countless people as we ring in the New Year with a message of positivity, health and fitness for 2018.”
