5 Healthy Rewards for Crushing It at the Gym

Creating and sticking to a workout routine can be difficult, especially when there are plenty of temptations and excuses to sway you. However, any time you spend at the gym is time well spent. Making it there at all is always worth celebrating.
That's why it's important to take care of your whole self and know you can always enjoy a break without derailing your progress. After completing a tough workout or reaching another fitness goal, you deserve to treat yourself to some healthy rewards. Here are five ideas to get you started and help you feel even better about your commitment to fitness.
1. Head to the Movies With Your Workout Buddy
Your workout buddies are the pals who greet you with "good morning, let's do this!" text messages and push you through that extra mile with some tough love. Having an accountability partner to ensure you work out is crucial, so why wouldn't you celebrate your dedication together with some healthy rewards?
After a week of demanding workouts, head to the movies to engage your mind, not just your body. (And if you sneak in a favorite snack, we won't tell anyone!)
2. Share Your Success on Social Media
Even if you're not enthusiastic about Snapchat, Instagram and other social networks, there's something empowering about sharing your fitness success with an online community.
In addition to documenting your progress for your Facebook pals, you can also join online fitness communities that have private groups, all meant to keep you motivated and on track when you need that extra push. In fact, there's a social media site that exists solely for celebrating fitness wins. 3. Have a Spa Day
Even Olympic athletes make time for massages, especially since they can work wonders on sore, achy muscles. If you spent the last week upping your strength-building regimen, slicing off seconds from your average time per mile or doing more cardio and weight-intensive classes than normal, your body is definitely craving a solid rubdown. For some well-deserved TLC, schedule a day that includes a deep tissue massage, a dip in a hot tub and a visit to the sauna. Trust us when we say your muscles will thank you!
4. Upgrade Your Wardrobe or Accessories
If one of your fitness motivations is to lose weight, then you likely look forward to the day when you see your pants or shirts go down a size. Or maybe your motivation is to run a mile on the treadmill without stopping, or to stick to your plan to get to the gym a certain number of times. As you meet your goals, why not reward yourself with some new items for your wardrobe? This can even be your way to stay motivated throughout the week — reminding yourself that if you keep at it, you can upgrade your workout pants or score those neat running shoes you love.
5. Allow Yourself an Indulgence
Although it's important to abide by the age-old tactic of "everything in moderation," having a cheat day in your diet plan can keep you from depriving yourself to the point that you're pushed to binge. Nearly everyone indulges at times, so you might as well schedule it so you're in control.

Another idea could be stopping by your favorite bakery for the sweet treat you've resisted all week.
