Judgement Free Generation®
Empowering the next generation
Judgement Free Generation® (JFG®) is Planet Fitness’ signature philanthropic initiative that advances youth wellbeing and empowers the next generation to create kinder communities in partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
First established in 2016 to champion kindness and anti-bullying, our JFG® initiative has evolved to meet the growing physical, emotional, and social needs of today’s youth.
Since then, with the support of our franchisees, members, team members, and vendors, Planet Fitness has contributed more than $10.5 million to programs and resources that improve the wellbeing of more than 500,000 youth each year.
KEY JFG® PROGRAMS
Annual Scholarships
Annual Scholarships assist high school seniors beyond their time at their local Boys & Girls Club by easing the financial burden of secondary education. Unlike most scholarships that recognize academic or athletic achievement, the Judgement Free Generation® scholarship program awards youth whose words and actions consistently champion kindness, acceptance, and belonging.
In 2024, we awarded 50 teens with scholarships worth $5,000, totaling a $250,000 investment in their continued education. Among the 50 recipients, 52% identify as first-generation college students.
To date, Planet Fitness has provided $1.4 million in scholarships to 280 Boys & Girls Club youth.
Mini Judgement Free Zones®
Mini Judgement Free Zone® (Mini JFZ®) fitness spaces provide Boys & Girls Club teens and staff members with safe, welcoming places to exercise.
Mini JFZs® are small-scale replicas of Planet Fitness clubs, complete with our signature high-quality equipment, branding, and motivational signage, that are installed in Boys & Girls Club locations.
To date, we have built approximately 50 Mini JFZs®, providing over 10,000 youth (ages 13 and older) with access to fitness.
Community Grants
Community Grants empower Boys & Girls Club youth to lead service projects that positively contribute to their communities, and help develop important leadership and project management skills.
Examples of these projects include beach cleanups, donation drives, and veteran outreach programs.
To date, we have provided grants that have positively impacted over 20,000 Boys & Girls Club youth and their local communities.
Trauma-Informed Care Training
Trauma-Informed Care Training equips Boys & Girls Club staff with industry-leading knowledge and skills to understand the traumatic experiences many young people face and address behaviors rooted in trauma, fostering a proactive approach to prevent bullying, promote a culture of inclusion and safety, and enable youth to thrive.
To date, Planet Fitness funding has supported training for over 40 trauma-informed care specialists across Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s system, and their knowledge and expertise has collectively supported nearly 475,000 youth.
