Jackson teens stay fit with Planet Fitness's High School Summer Pass
Teens are getting a boost in both their physical and mental health this summer. Through Planet Fitness’s High School Summer Pass program. 39 News speaks to some of the program's participants to learn what they hope to get out of the program.
A free summer fitness program at Planet Fitness is giving teenagers in Jackson a place to stay active while school is out.
Participants say they're hoping to improve both their physical and mental health this summer. “I wanna get bigger, you know, more fit, faster, more stamina, just everything elevated," said Sultan Aladui.
“I hope to, you know, lose a little weight because I had surgery not too long ago and it was hard for me to, you know, get out and exercise. So I think this is a good opportunity to lose weight and put some, put some muscle back on," said Rylan Hall.
“Just to, like I just said, better my overall physical health and, you know, mental health, it's really good for your mental health. And I think that it's great for anyone who just wants to try it out," said Mia Hill.
“I hope to like be like really fit and stuff, you know. I hope like people see me and like, you know, they try to get advice from me like they ask me questions about the gym and stuff, you know," said Mohamed Alaudi.
Personal trainer RJ Perkins says building healthy habits now can make a difference long after summer ends.“Motivation teach them discipline consistency, make them want more in help. I feel like, that's some good stuff, man.” The program runs through the end of August, giving local teens one more option to stay active before heading back to school.
