- Start Slow + Take It One Day at A Time: So often we want to leap right back into where we left off on our fitness journey – however, that can lead to heightened stress and sometimes injury – so it’s important to focus on moving your body a little each day and build on from there.
- Stretch It Out: Start every workout routine with some dynamic stretches like forward lunges with a trunk twist, knee to chest huggers, bend and reaches or jumping jacks. Doing so will effectively get your blood flowing, jump start your cognitive brain function, and release endorphins that will put you in a positive mood and help you maximize the results of your workout.
- Infuse Timed Sets Into Strength Regimens: Including an element of strength training into every fitness routine will help in burning calories, building lean muscle, and fortifying your bones. Start by performing as many repetitions as possible, safely and correctly, within a given amount of time (i.e., three sets in 60 seconds) – doing so will allow you to celebrate the number of repetitions you achieve versus focusing on a rigid mark.
