Planet Fitness Opens New Mini-Judgement Free Zone® Within Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida – Leesburg
Fitness space unveiled with WNBA Legend and Boys & Girls Clubs of America Supporter, Lisa Leslie
ORLANDO, Fla. – Planet Fitness, one of the largest and fastest-growing franchisors and operators of fitness centers with more members than any other fitness brand, today announced the opening of a new mini-Judgement Free Zone® within Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida – Leesburg. The new facility was unveiled on Thursday, October 9 with Lisa Leslie. She is a WNBA legend, four-time Olympic Gold medalist, Hall of Famer, and seven-time All-Star player who led her team to two championships while playing in the WNBA for twelve seasons.
The new fitness space will provide Club teens with the ability to work out in an environment that is free of judgement and filled with encouragement. The space features cardio and strength equipment donated by local Planet Fitness corporate-owned clubs. The equipment includes a Smith machine, adjustable and flat benches, a bike, a treadmill and dumbbells.
“It’s so important for young people to understand how health and fitness can shape their lives, which is why I’m thrilled to partner with Planet Fitness and Boys & Girls Clubs of America through the unveiling of the mini-Judgement Free Zone® in Florida,” said Lisa Leslie. “It was incredibly rewarding to see how excited the Club teens were to have a welcoming space that gives them access to best-in-class strength and cardio equipment where they can build strength, confidence and lifelong habits in a judgement free environment.”
“Planet Fitness is proud to champion inclusive fitness through our partnership with Boys & Girls Clubs and empower the next generation to make fitness a priority and welcoming to all,” said Danielle Wood, Planet Fitness Director of ESG and Social Impact. “We appreciate Lisa Leslie’s support to help us unveil our newest mini–Judgement Free Zone and appreciate our shared passion of promoting fitness to improve mental and physical health.”
“We are so thankful to the Planet Fitness team for their generosity in bringing this mini-Judgement Free Zone® to our local community in Leesburg,” said Mack Reid, Chief Impact Officer and Chief Operating Officer for Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. “Giving our Club kids the opportunity to meet Lisa Leslie and see firsthand how exercise and activity can positively impact their lives was the best way to celebrate the new fitness space.”
The unveiling is an extension of Planet Fitness’ national philanthropic initiative, Judgement Free Generation®, designed to build youth self-confidence through fitness, and spread inclusivity and kindness. Together with its franchisees, members and partners, Planet Fitness has contributed more than $10.7 million to support pro-kindness initiatives and recently celebrated 10 years of partnership.
